FAQS

Our comprehensive FAQs page is a helpful resource that addresses frequently asked questions about our custom cushions, ensuring you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your purchase.

How do I measure for Custom Cushions?

To ensure accurate measurements for your custom cushions, we recommend using a flexible measuring tape instead of unwieldy grade school rulers. Measure the distance from seam to seam across the cushion or the furniture where the cushion will be placed, rounding to the nearest 0.25 of an inch. Please exclude welting and measure to the inside of any cording or welting for utmost precision. If you’re measuring for furniture with both seat and back cushions, remember to subtract the thickness of the seat cushion when determining the back height since the back cushion will rest on top of it.

Please note that we do not alter any measurements provided. We create the final product based on the measurements you provide, although we may contact you if we require clarification for unconventional measurements. The required measurements, typically depth, width, and thickness, can be found on the product page. Please anticipate a slight difference of up to 5/8 inch in the final product due to variations in foam or padding. Should you have any questions regarding measurements, feel free to reach out to us via email, and we’ll be more than happy to assist you, with or without accompanying photos, to ensure you’re on the right track.

What type of filling is the best fit for my cushions?

Our standard Indoor / Outdoor foam is one of the best available in the Cushion industry, and is suitable for most residential and home uses.  It’s available in a variety of firmnesses, and while Medium firmness is usually a safe choice, let us know if you need guidance on this decision. For an upgrade in durability, select our Premium indoor / outdoor foam.  It’s suitable for even the highest traffic commercial applications. For an even faster drying foam, select our Dryfast option, which is an open cell reticulated foam that allows water to evaporate much more quickly than standard foams. For back cushions and pillows, we offer a high-quality synthetic feather substitute that is very comfortable and is perfect for either indoor or outdoor use. All of our outdoor fillings are antimicrobial, mold resistant, and designed to handle water without degrading. If in doubt, we recommend ordering a foam sample to select the best type for your cushions. Foam samples are 6 inches wide, 6 inches long and 1 inch thick ($3.00 charge). Please email us to request foam samples.

What type of fabric do you use?

There is no single best fabric solution for indoor / outdoor use: a cushion used in a poolside (wet) but shaded (low UV) location has different stressors than one that sits in the sun all day(dry and high UV).  Because of this, we offer a variety of fabrics and are very happy to assist in matching the fabric to your specific need.

Most of our custom-made orders are made with 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics, and for these, we offer a selection from some of the best manufacturers around the world:  Sunbrella, Tempotest, Robert Allen, Outdura, and Charlotte Fabrics.  Geobella. The beauty of these outdoor fabrics is their toughness to the elements.  They are UV, mildew, stain, and water resistant, and come with the best no-fade warranties.

Can I use the dryer for Sunbrella fabric cushion cover?

The dryer will shrink the fabric and make it challenging to place it back on the foam base. Spot cleaning is recommended.

How do I order round cushion?

Please proceed to the page for the Seat cushion product. Choose the option for “Custom shape.” Then, input the same measurements for Depth and Width. During the checkout process, please provide the information that the cushion is round in the additional notes section. For example, you can mention that the round cushion has a diameter of 20 inches and is 3 inches thick. Remember to enter Depth as 20 inches, Width as 20 inches, and Thickness as 3 inches.

Trapezoid shape cusion - how to measure depth?

To measure Depth, simply draw a straight line from the bottom center to the top center of the object you are measuring. This will give you the accurate measurement for Measurement A.

how will my order be shipped?

Our products are typically shipped by UPS, FedEx, or USPS, unless you have made alternate arrangements with us. Delivery usually takes about 5 business days.

For Vacuum Packed shipping, the slip covers and foam will be shipped together in one box. However, the foam will be vacuum packed to reduce its size during shipping. Upon arrival, you will need to insert the foam into the slip covers, which typically takes about 1-2 minutes per cushion. If you prefer to have the cushions shipped fully assembled, please get in touch with us. Please exercise caution when opening the box, as the cushions are packed in plastic for protection.

How long does it take from submitting order to receiving?

The popularity of these products increases significantly during nice weather, resulting in varying production times throughout the year. To receive your order with the fastest production, we recommend placing it during the winter. Orders placed in the spring may experience longer production times.

Can I make changes after I've submitted my order?

At Cushion Central, we allow changes or cancellation of orders as long as production has not yet begun. Typically, you can make these changes within 1 business day from the time you submitted your order. We are here to assist you with any modifications you may need.

Do i need ties on my cushions?

While cushions typically do not require ties, they can be useful in windy locations or when back cushions need to be secured to the furniture frame. Our standard ties are 12 inches long and can be tied around furniture frames. If you require a different length or prefer velcro loops instead, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to accommodate your specific needs.

patterns for cushions made by customers:

To ensure your satisfaction, we kindly request a full-size pattern from you. You can create this pattern using paper or light-colored fabric. From our experience, fabric tends to be more functional as it offers flexibility and allows you to accurately reflect the curves and shapes of your furniture. Once you have prepared and cut your pattern, please try it on your furniture to confirm that it fits correctly based on your measurements.

If your cushions require a zipper, please write the word “Zipper” on the desired side of the pattern. For cushions that require ties, please indicate this with an arrow. Additionally, kindly label two sides of the pattern as “Top” and “Bottom”. It is important for us to have your name along with your phone number or email address so that we can notify you upon receiving your pattern and when we are ready to proceed with production. Please note that the shipping date will be extended by approximately 10 days to account for the time it takes for shipping the pattern to us and back to you.

If you are ordering cushions for furniture that does not currently have cushions, please utilize paper or light-colored fabric to create patterns that capture the contours and edges accurately. Make sure to cover the entire area with paper or fabric to ensure precise measurements. In our experience, using fabric is more user-friendly. You can use a pen or marker to draw the pattern and then cut it.

Rest assured that we are here to assist you throughout the process, and we thank you for your cooperation in providing the necessary patterns for a customized result.
